Wellness disclaimer

Updated 18 September 2026.

Our guided audio, breathing suggestions, imagery and articles are for general wellbeing and education. They are not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment or a substitute for antenatal education and professional healthcare.

Stay connected to your care

Talk with your midwife, doctor or another qualified healthcare professional about questions concerning your pregnancy or birth. Follow their guidance about breathing, movement and care during labour.

Never disregard medical advice or delay seeking help because of something you read or hear here. If you have an urgent concern, contact your maternity team or the appropriate emergency service.

No promised birth outcome

Every birth is different. Hypnobirthing does not guarantee a pain-free, unmedicated, unassisted or complication-free birth. It does not determine whether labour progresses or whether medical care is needed.

Feeling afraid, using pain relief or having an intervention does not mean you prepared incorrectly. Relaxation is an optional source of support, not a responsibility to make birth happen a particular way.

Choose a safe place to listen

Do not listen to relaxation or self-hypnosis recordings while driving, operating machinery or doing anything that needs your full attention. Settle somewhere comfortable where reduced alertness is safe.

Keep the volume comfortable. You can open your eyes, move, pause or stop whenever you want. Do not force your breathing or continue a practice that feels uncomfortable. If a session brings up distress, stop and reach out for appropriate support.

Listening around birth

Discuss the use of headphones or audio with your care team so you can hear and respond to them. The website requires an internet connection; it is not an emergency service or a medical monitoring tool.
