Labour is a rhythm of intense work followed by genuine rest — and the rest between surges is as much a part of the process as the surges themselves. This session focuses entirely on the pause between waves, teaching you to drop into deep physical relaxation the moment a surge ends so that your muscles can recover fully before the next one builds. The faster and more completely you can relax between surges, the more energy you conserve for the later stages of birth — and the more sustainably you can work with your body throughout the whole journey.

  • To practice the skill of instant relaxation.
  • Between waves to reset your nervous system.

What you'll practice

  • Dropping shoulders and jaw instantly.
  • Using a 'switch off' cue word.
  • Sinking into the support of the bed or chair.
  • Letting go of the last wave completely.
