"When the mind races, return to the count. Simple, rhythmic, grounding."

Anxiety lives in the future — in the "what ifs" and the "what nexts." Counting brings you back to the present moment immediately and completely. This session uses a specific breathing ratio — in for four counts, out for seven — that is clinically recognised for its ability to activate the parasympathetic nervous system and slow the physiological stress response. It is one of the most immediately effective techniques in hypnobirthing, equally useful during a medical appointment, a sleepless night, a moment of rising panic in labour, or simply a stressful afternoon.

When to listen

  • If you feel panic rising.
  • During medical appointments or checks.
  • When you can't sleep due to racing thoughts.
  • To regain control of a fast breathing rate.

What you'll practice

  • Following a guided count.
  • Extending the exhale longer than the inhale.
  • Focusing the mind solely on the numbers.
  • Feeling the heart rate slow down.
This session is designed to support relaxation and preparation. It is not medical care and does not replace guidance from healthcare professionals.
