Turning down the noise
Welcome to Body Wisdom. Pregnancy can bring information, measurements, opinions and questions. This practice offers a quieter place to notice your experience without asking you to reject expertise or have every answer inside yourself.
Settle into support and let your bones feel their weight. Notice the breath moving in its own rhythm. Imagine turning down the clock, the calendar and the stream of notifications for a little while.
The river and silver shore
Picture a wide river moving towards the ocean. A small boat waits at the bank, lined with cushions. Step in and let it carry you through a landscape that feels older and quieter than the day you left behind.
The boat reaches a shore of silver sand beneath the first evening stars. Around you, imagine a circle of supportive people from the past, present or future. They do not need to be relatives, parents or women. Choose figures who represent care, endurance and belonging for you.
Let their presence say: you do not have to do this alone. Human beings have prepared for birth in many ways and have also needed skilled help, changing plans and community care. Support is part of the story, not a departure from it.
Appreciation without a test
Bring attention to what your body is doing today. You might appreciate a steady heartbeat, the work of breathing or the simple fact of being here. You might also feel pain, frustration, grief or mistrust. None of those responses disqualifies you from this practice.
Imagine a ripe fruit resting on a branch. When the time is right it may loosen, but you do not have to use this image to predict birth. Let it represent permission to release effort where you can: a clenched hand, a lifted shoulder or a task that someone else can carry.
Follow that release through your forehead, throat, hands and belly. If low sounds or movement feel appealing, picture using them. They are options for expression and comfort, not mechanisms that guarantee opening or descent.
Strong sensations and wise support
Labour sensations may feel purposeful, painful, frightening, manageable or changeable from one moment to the next. Pain is not proof that something is right, and calmness is not proof that everything is safe.
Your knowledge of your body matters. So do observations, examinations and the expertise of your care team. You can listen inward, ask questions and seek assessment at the same time.
Choose words that leave room for reality: I can notice what I feel. I can speak when something changes. I can trust myself to ask for help. My body deserves care. A change of plan can be a strong and informed choice.
Bringing the circle with you
Imagine a future moment when doubt appears. The circle gathers at the edge of your mind, not to promise an outcome but to remind you that care, history and human connection surround you.
Return to the boat and let the current carry you towards the present. Feel the surface beneath you, thank any part of your body you wish to thank, and move your hands and feet. Open your eyes when you are ready.
